Offering the lead single from his forthcoming Unity’ EP slated for 2023 on SSKWAN (brother label to WAKAAN), the label head Liquid Stranger breaks away from the status quo with his newest release, “Smoke N Hope,” featuring the influential J Lauryn (Post Malone, BTS). Closely following his critically acclaimed B A L A N C E album and DIMENSIONS EP, “Smoke N Hope” lands as a revitalizing palette cleanser, largely centered around deconstructed instrumentation and powerful ragga vocals. Introduced by the distinct strumming of a sole acoustic guitar, immediately giving the record a Western semblance, Liquid Stranger sets the scene, painting a vivid mental picture with soundwaves as his medium.

Building the bones of the track, he attentively weaves in a myriad of rhythmic elements as J Lauryn’s lyrics soar over an assemblage of sonorous drums, chimes, and husky exhales, paying homage to the title. Next, bringing forward and incorporating unorthodox low-pitched basslines, the profound producer manages to not only meld the gap between reggae and electronic music, but uses traditional components of both to forge something entirely new. Expressing himself in an offbeat manner than his quintessential bass heavy discography, “Smoke N Hope” sets the standard for what’s to come in the SSKWAN-derived full length body of work.

Wrapping up his second nationwide headline DIMENSIONS tour, joined by surging support acts Tripp St., Ravenscoon, and Tape B, Liquid Stranger now readies himself to close out the year with two massive sets, headlining both Decadence Arizona and Radiance NYE. Concluding his largest calendar year to date with selling out WAKAAN Music Festival 2022, three sold out nights at Mission Ballroom (12,500 Tickets), and noteworthy WAKAAN takeovers at Hulaween, Imagine Music Festival, Avant Gardner, and more, the esteemed tastemaker stands poised for what’s next; devoted to his longtime vision of community rooted in music.
